The housing continuum

ABSCAN’s goal is to promote a greater range of housing choices by way of “new generation” financing adjusted to First Nations and their members’ priorities, needs, and financial capacity. The three pillars of ABSCAN’s housing continuum are: durable solutions, wealth creation, and community autonomy. Financing is based, as it is across Canada, on home value and on the borrower’s repayment capacity, rather than on community guarantees.

Since each Nation has its own unique values, relationship to the territory, needs, priorities, strengths, on-the-ground expertise, and challenges, we adopt a flexible approach and adapt it to each Nation’s rhythm and particular circumstances.
